mIRC	mIRC is a really kewl chat client - talk to people overseas, relatives or maybe the person next door. Here's the official mIRC homepage. Find me on OzOrg as SparKy.
ICQ (Mirabilis Homepage)	ICQ is an online/offline list that lets you talk and send files to your friends when they're online. It has over 11 million users and is rapidly growing!
CuteFTP	A really good FTP program that makes downloading/uploading easier
Netscape/ Internet Explorer	The two most popular browsers. I use IE (4.0) more, because of all the desktop things.. but Netscape is more user-friendly. Netscape Communicator 4.5 Internet Explorer beta5
Getright	Is supposed to help download things and resume automatically, but I don't use it (although I do have it on my computer)
Netmedic (Vitalsigns)	Netmedic is very useful - it tells you the speed you're opening pages, helps you solve problems with your connection, and has averages per month/session.
TetriNET	Ok, this isn't really an app... but it's an extremely good game, and I advise you all to get it - gimme a game some day =)

Winfiles.com (formerly Win95.com)	This is the best shareware/freeware site around (from what I've seen). It has heaps of tips, info and files (+ the homepage of each of the programs and a good description).
Tucows	This is also a really good shareware/freeware site, which rates the programs in cows.
Sharepaper.com	Similar to the above two sites, SharePaper has both shareware and freeware programs. It has hints and 'easter eggs' for many programs/games.
Pass the Shareware	A simple shareware site with a lot of stuff.
download.com	A nice download site with a lot of good programs.
TheFreeSite	If you like free things, then you'll like TheFreeSite. It has everything from screensavers to completely free guestbooks for your homepage.
ZDNet (Australian site here)	ZDNet has a nice mix of most popular programs. The Australian site is particularly quick and saves waiting for the American one to load up.
