Your Questions

Ok.  The questions I asked myself:

Firstly, why did you make this page?
Because I'm sick of the 'Other' page (hence there were no updates), because I'm sick of school (about four weeks in) and I'm bored.

What were you doing whilst making this page?
Listening to my glorious mp3 collection.  Usually online, cuz that's the only time I can actually be bothered working on the Not page (hereafter known as NTP), and usually chatting on ICQ.

What kind of computer do you have, and what programs do you use (just to browse)?
A Pentium II with 128Mb RAM.  I use Internet Explorer 5 and Netscape Communicator 4.05 to look at pages, but usually the former, cuz I've got Win98.  For mail, I use Outlook Express (but I prefer Netscape Mail, wonder why?).  I have a NetComm Roadster II 56k modem, which my parents conveniently paid for.

I also use my sister's 'puter, which runs really weirdly (tho it has the same progs as mine, i think).  It does have a scanner, a colour printer, and a 56k modem though.

What programs did you use to make this page?
I used Netscape Composer for the WYSIWYG interface, and the wonderful (*cough cough*) inbuilt Netscape Colour Palette.  I then fiddle around with it in Microsoft Notepad (probably the best program MS ever made), and upload it with cuteFTP.  The graphics are made with Corel Photopaint 7 and Paint Shop Pro 5 (Jasc).  Hmm, anything else? Oh yeah, I sometimes use the JPEG Optimiser (Xat) and sometimes the Gif Wizard at the WebSiteGarage.  And to look at graphics I use ACDSee (ACDSystems).  Tada!

What programs should people use to view your page?
Anything which can read HTML.  I use Netscape Communicator 4.05 and Internet Explorer 4.0 to view my pages, so it should run perfectly fine on both those browsers.  Netscape Navigator has several size (ie. amount of pixels in lines and text) problems but it works okay on both that and Internet Explorer 3.0.  It looks pretty good in Opera 3.50, but I don't know about the rest.  Don't blame me if it doesn't work, but I'll listen to your complaints for only $5 an hour...
Browsers should have graphics enabled.  It's not a necessity - it's for YOUR enjoyment - but it makes my page oh-so-much more colourful and bright =).  But if you don't have graphics enabled, I have used ALT tags, so you know what the graphic was meant to say.  Oh, they're mainly text graphics, keeping the page sizes small.

What did you do to make the page more enjoyable?
((When did I write these questions?? This sounds like a Design/Technology evaluation.))
There are heaps of things though, from ALT tags for graphics to split up pages.  There are text links on the bottom of most main pages, and generally 'back' buttons on the bottom of pages (the only part where this does NOT occur are on the pages I haven't finished yet).
What else? Long pages, such as the Links page, were split into several pages to make browsing easier and faster.  And the links have been categorised and these were put into seperate tables.  Tables make it easier for me to change links, for you to see everything, and keeps everything in order no matter which browser you're using.  Some earlier browsers don't support tables, -don't- tell me if this is YOURS.

Whats your email address?
I'm asking myself this? Ah, anyway, I have heaps of email addys because I went into a frenzy of collecting them (eek), and because I like thinking up usernames.  However, the main emails I use will have 'najwaj' as the username (eg. najwaj@start.com.au).  You can always contact me thru najwaj@start.com.au and najwaj@tig.com.au.  As the hotmail server is very slow nowadays, I only check it once every month or so.  Even less.

Did you really make all the stuff on these pages?
Yep, believe it or not, everything on this site is my own work (except the guestbooks, counter, some compositions and cyberpets *smirk*).

Can I print your pages?
  Yes..

Do you have any other websites?
Yep.  They're all at different stages of 'completion' (I give up too easily).  There's my Geocities one, which unfortunately has been covered in watermarks and popup ads, although it wasn't that good to start off with.  I've made the 'Other' Page, and it is currently all on my hard drive.  I have a page on Crosswinds, which is also kinda dead (I warned you), and there is another page on my HD.  The page you're staring at is part of not 'That' page, in which I ripped as much as possible off the 'Other' Page.  If you're wondering, I have accounts with Geocities, Tripod, Xoom and Angelfire (which are supposed to be the largest free webspace providers), but those pages are generally ALL hand coded at the site and graphics are unheard of.

Do you have your own domain?
I wish!  Nope, I'm only fourteen, and have no money whatsoever... well.. not enough..

What is the theme of this site?
IDiocy.  With a capital ID. Dear me, I don't have a clue.  Probably to annoy the rest of the web community.

What pages are you planning to add?
Nothing, as yet.  Something more interactive ?

I don't like your page..
I'm pretty sure I DIDN'T write these questions.

How come you have two URLs?  http://.../~najwaj/ and http://fly.to/otherwhere/
The long one is the REAL location of my site.  The other one, http://fly.to/otherwhere/, is just a shortcut way of getting here - see my index page, or go straight to V3-URL.

This page, <insert page here> doesn't work! Why, and how can I get to it?
I wouldn't know, cuz I don't run the server.  Possibly, the server is down, possibly, your proxies aren't working, your ISP isn't working, or there is the SLIM chance I have typed the link incorrectly.  I never make typos (I'm lying too)..
To get to the page, just check the URL (in the address bar) and see if it looks like a real page name (for example, if it said 'friensd.html', you could change it to 'friends.html' which makes more sense).  Try pressing Refresh, and if it still doesn't work, email me.  I can change links easily (thru the ftp program), and will probably get you to check it out for me..  Oh yeah, and if you're wondering what '404 error' means, look at this errorcodes page.
Another thing I have done is made two 'index' pages - index.htm and index.html.  This is so site names are never mixed up, and so I can write links without having to bother about file name endings.  The pages are both the same, don't worry.

What else do you do on the Internet besides working on this page?
Not much, I'm one of those people who sit staring at their homepage all the time......... okay, I'm usually doing other things.  I'll generally have two to five browser windows open, as well as ICQ and maybe mIRC.  Keep-Connection-Alive client is usually Outlook Express, which also checks my mail every couple of minutes =)
Pages I visit ALL the time are: Start, Earth2025, The Living End Official Website, music sites (check out Reprise Records and Addicted to Noise) and ZDNet.  Oh, and I visit funny pages, such as the Stick Figure Massacre Page.  I marvel at Dictionary.com much too often for my own health as well...

Where'd you get Najwaj from?
Sorry, can't answer this.  Najwaj was my nickname at school (I invented it) from year five to now (yr9).  I like it, and I do respond to 'Naj' as well as my real name..  What does it mean? Sorry, I can't tell you for security reasons =P

When do you update your site?
Never? Close enough.  Whenever new inspiration hits me, whenever I'm asked my URL by my friends and I feel really guilty, or when I look at other pages and decide I can work on it again.

The questions other people asked me:

Can I put anything into the storybook?
Nope, not anything.  Stories, poems, quotes, dreams, yes.  Comments, angry remarks, no.  Oh, and if you want, dictionary defintions and/or interesting words.  Such as 'procrastinate', 'nymphet', 'sine qua non', etc.

How can I make my own page?
LEARN HTML! That is the first thing I yelled at my friends when they asked, I'll yell it at you if you ask me.  Personally, I think everyone wanting to make their own homepage/website should have some knowledge of HTML, however basic.  Come on, <br> and <font face="Arial"> can't be that hard to remember! And it'll make your page look better, oh definitely.
That's my easy way.  If you're lazy, go hire some web page designer to do it for a couple of hundred bucks.

How do you get <..name one of my graphics..> onto my page?
You can't without valid ID.  Right click - > Save Image As usually works, but then again, so does New Mail Message - > To: najwaj@tig.com.au...

Why don't you use Geocities or Tripod? You get alots (sic) more space there
I used to use Geocities.  I have a page (which is barely updated) at Geocities.  I have an account at Tripod.  I was going to upload my page to Tripod.  Until the attack of the popup windows.  The reason I don't like those 'free-community-people servers' is because of their form of advertising.  Popups.  Watermarks.  Banners.  It's fine, if you don't mind a popup window blocking your site's crucial information.  (What information? *shrug*)
On Geocities and Tripod, you get 11megs (at present).  That's nearly four times the size of my site, including graphics.  I don't need that much space, and I don't need a 'backup' server.  If my site crashes, I have backups on my HD.  If my HD crashes, my backups are on my sis's computer =)
Sure, heaps of traffic would be cool.  Still, Geocities' idea of MAKING ways to make other people come to your site (eg. 'communities' and the geoguide) aren't that successful.  I don't know of many people who actually click thru the geoguides, I know I don't.. unless the page is soo boring..
Ok, I'm not saying these servers are bad.  In fact, they'll probably last ages, as long as people want free webspace.  But currently I don't need an extra 6MB of space.  This entire site, including unused graphics, unused pages, and folders full of crap, is only 4.2 megabytes in size.  That's compact for ya!

How long did it take you to make this page?
Haven't I answered this one before? Umm.. I started nTP at the end of the holidays (start of Feb 99) and I've only just gotten around to working on it.

What fonts did you use? Why? Where can I get them?
Comic Sans MS.  Arial.  Abadi Mt Condensed Light.  Lucida Sans.  All of which you SHOULD have on your own computer (unless you've deleted them).  Microsoft has them somewhere on their site, I know.. headings, decorations, yada yada yada, were made with LithographLight, Staccato and Muriel (possibly more, all of which are available on a font site somewhere... yes, I have the files should you want 'em).  The heading at the top of this page also used the font Impact (which you should also have).  Besides, graphics don't require YOU to have the font, so you should be fine.
I think I'll change the heading fonts as I update (ie. major updates).  Even graphics get tedious after a while..

Another Question?
Believe it or not, I know myself and my site well enough to have answered all the questions above truthfully.. if there is still anything about the page (preferably NOT about me), fill out this form and send it to me.  Or email me.
